Uploading to 4Matrix Fusion from 4Matrix Cloud

Schools can upload data to 4Matrix Fusion from 4Matrix Cloud. Here are the main points to note:

1. Connection management: The connection between a school’s 4Matrix Cloud database and 4Matrix Fusion is currently managed by 4Matrix. Please log a ticket to request the connection.
   
   
2. API key differences: The API key used in 4Matrix Cloud to connect to Fusion is different from the Desktop version. Users cannot copy the Desktop API to Cloud; a new API key must be generated and entered via 4Matrix staff in the 4Matrix Cloud account management portal.
   
   
3. Upload permissions: Admin users of 4Matrix Cloud - and any user with the Fusion upload permission via the Roles tool - can upload to 4Matrix Fusion via the Data Connections > Fusion Upload tool. There is no additional login required when accessing the upload tool (which differs from the Desktop software).
   
   
4. Pupil ID mismatch: Pupil IDs differ between Desktop and Cloud. If a school uploads a series from both Desktop and Cloud to Fusion (e.g. to a results and targets series), the pupils won’t match. This only affects the Subject Summary and Subject Overview tools, where comparison columns will display as 0. Unfortunately, this cannot be resolved. Trust Admins also need to be aware of which school is uploading from where, because a series containing mixed upload sources will yield ‘strange’ data in the comparison columns in these tools (see identifying upload source, below).
   
   
5. Workaround for Pupil IDs: If comparisons in the above tools are required, schools can re-upload series previously sent to Fusion from Desktop via Cloud instead, to replace existing data with the ‘new’ data from Cloud.
   
   
6. Workaround for data sources: There are currently no restrictions to prevent uploads from different platforms into the same Fusion series, but adding a ‘Data Source’ option for Fusion series creation is a feature we plan to add shortly. This will allow Fusion admins to choose whether data comes from Desktop, Cloud, or both. This will prevent schools uploading from different platforms.
   
   
7. Identifying the upload source: Using the Fusion > Edit Series tool, you can distinguish between upload sources by expanding a series row. This lists the schools in the trust and shows whether they have uploaded data to the selected series. Series uploaded from Desktop will have all values in the grid populated; Cloud only populates around 25%.
